JESUS LOVES ME (Part 2)

So, does Jesus love you? If He can love me, He can love you. God so loved the WORLD. That's you, too. If He can love Judas, the one who betrayed Him, He can love you. If He can love Paul the Apostle, the who persecuted the Lord's church and had one of His followers killed (Stephen), then He can love you. If He can love Jacob (liar), Moses (murderer), David (adulterer and murderer), and Peter (forsook Jesus), the I know He loves you.

There has never been a question about God's love for you, though. He who gave us His Son will freely give us all things (Romans 8). God demonstrated His love for us while we were sinners (not after we cleaned up our lives) by giving Jesus Christ to die in our place for our sins. There is no question concerning God's love for you. The question is, do you love God? Do you love the Lord Jesus Christ with all of your heart? With all of your soul? With all of your mind? With all of your strength? This is not love like you may love hamburgers. This is not love like love for friends. It is not the love we have for family. It is not even the love we have for spouses. This love described by Jesus is the kind of love that consumes you, drives you, changes you, motivates you, and inspires you, and causes you to turn from everything to follow Jesus. That's exactly the kind of love Jesus has for us.

So, do you love Jesus? I didn't ask if you went to church, if you were baptized, if you prayed, if you gave to charity, if you sang in the choir, if you taught Sunday School, if you were a minister, if you were a Missionary, if you were a good person, a good dad or good mom, if you never killed anyone, if you never told a lie, if you never cheated on your spouse, if you never drank alcohol or did drugs, or if you owned a Bible. I asked you, do you love Jesus? Before you answer, remember God knows your heart. He sees what's on the inside, not just what's on the outside. The following verses say it better than I ever could.

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. If ye love me, keep my commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. Master, which is the great commandment in the law? (37) Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. (38) This is the first and great commandment. (39) And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

JESUS LOVES ME

It has been a couple of months since my last post. My apologies. I will post more frequently. I enjoy this and it is good therapy. Today, I would just like to focus on a truth that is very simple, yet very profound. It is something kids learn early and adults learn often. Jesus loves me. As the old song says, Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so. Amen.

JESUS love me!
The holy, eternal, perfect. sinless, righteous, pure Son of God and God the Son loves me. The sovereign, omnipotent, omniscient, almighty King of kings and Lord of lords loves me. The sacrificial, atoning, merciful, gracious, compassionate Lamb of God loves me.

Jesus LOVES me!
Jesus loves me with an unconditional, everlasting, passionate, intimate, correcting, protecting, perfect love.

Jesus loves ME!
Jesus loves me right now. Jesus loves me enough to not let me stay in the same condition in which He found me. Jesus loved me when I was a dirty, rotten, ungrateful, unholy, unrighteous, profane, God-hating, sinner. So I know He loves me now that I am a sanctified, Spirit indwelled, serving son and saint.

Jesus doesn't love me because of who I am or what I do or don't do. Jesus loves me because of who He is and what He does!

More a little bit later...
