Discipleship Challenge

Ushers

Requirements
To be an Usher at TABC you must be a member of TABC who is breathing and male, high school or above. Depending on how many volunteers we have, ushers will be rotated on a monthly basis. If you would like to be an usher, contact Dillard Leverkuhn.

Responsibilities

  • Have responsibility for sanctuary
  • Arrive in sactuary at 10:45
  • Assist greeters in welcoming guests and passing out bulletins
  • Make sure greeters know of all visitors that may have slipped through
  • Head usher will provide names of all visitors to pastor
  • Make sure seats are available for late-arriving guests
  • Be sure late-arriving guests receive a bulletin
  • Assume responsibility for service
  • Take offering:
    • plate should be passed on each row
    • two on each side should be even with two on other side
  • Be in charge of people coming and going
  • Assist in distributing materials
  • Check on any children that have left the service
  • Make sure that children that return to the service do so quietly
  • Responsible for lights, a/c & heat
  • Close doors to service at beginning of pastor's sermon
  • Attend to any needs of the pastor
  • After service is over, all assigned ushers responsible for picking up and straightening up sanctuary area for next service
  • Be prepared to handle emergency, such as knowing where first-aid kit is located

Head Usher

The Head Usher will also be appointed on a monthly rotation, depending on the number available. The Head Usher will remain at the back of the sactuary for the entire service.

Responsibilities

  • Head usher is responsible to make sure all happens
  • Head usher to count attendance before sermon begins and provide to Avery
  • Head usher should be sensitive to the noise level coming from outside the sanctuary
  • Head usher should be prepared to respond to people's needs throughout the service
